On February 15, 1966. Esther Ruth Nieves was sitting on her sofa in her Cleveland ave apt, at the age of seventeen and pregnant in Brooklyn NY. The winter of 1965 had a bone-chilling, El Nino effect. February being of the colder months in the calendar year made it more difficult for the young woman that my Mother was and expecting a child soon too. In her third trimester, she contracted a pulmonary breathing disorder. Asthma as the Doctor has called it. With the start of a very frigid winter, this newly discovered respiratory disorder, going into labor in the near future became a potentially complicated delivery. The rush to the hospital. The snow filled streets. The ample cold in the air and the asthmatic state of a young pregnant woman going into labor. Through all of this and more, a new birth emerges. Me. On the 16th day of February at 4:47 AM. This young woman has now given birth to her third child and her first son.
